Tommaso Lonquich – clarinet
Critically acclaimed as a “formidable clarinettist, with a sumptuous timbre and dazzling virtuosity”, Tommaso Lonquich is a soloist in the Ensemble MidtVest, an innovative chamber group based in Denmark. He is also a member of the prestigious Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center in New York, with which he performs in the United States and on tour.
He is regularly invited to the most important halls on four continents, collaborating with Christian Tetzlaff, Nicolas Altstaedt, Carolin Widmann, Pekka Kuusisto, Enrico Bronzi, Umberto Clerici, Sergio Azzolini, Danusha Waskiewicz and the Noûs, Zaïde, Mirus and Vertavo Quartets.
In Denmark he is the founder and artistic co-director of the Schackenborg Musikfest, a summer festival that takes place in the homonymous royal castle. Continuous research into improvisation and interaction with other arts led him to co-found and co-direct the Florentine cultural association Kantoratelier and to collaborate with Peppe Servillo, Dan Colen, Odin Teater et al.
He has conducted masterclasses at numerous institutions, such as the Juilliard School, the Manhattan School of Music, the Royal Danish Academy and the University of New York.
He plays the role of first clarinet with the Haydn Philharmonie, the Leonore Orchestra and the Mantua Chamber Orchestra, collaborating with conductors such as Zubin Mehta, Daniele Giorgi, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Fabio Luisi, Enrico Onofri and Nicolas Altstaedt.
