Giovanni Guzzo – violin
Born in Venezuela, Giovanni Guzzo has established himself as one of the most versatile and charismatic violinists of his generation.
He regularly performs at some of the most prestigious halls and festivals in the world, including London’s Wigmore Hall, New York’s Lincoln Center, the BBC Proms in London, the Salzburg and Verbier festivals.
He has played with some of today’s leading conductors such as Sir Simon Rattle, Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Ivan Fischer, Semyon Bychkov, Marin Alsop, Herbert Blomstedt, Reinhard Goebel and Juanjo Mena.
Protégé of the renowned French violinist Maurice Hasson, he worked closely with artists such as Joshua Bell, Martha Argerich, Martin Fröst, Daniel Hope, Helene Grimaud, Gábor Takács-Nagy, the Maggini Quartet and the Takacs Quartet.
He has won numerous awards and recognitions, including the Commendation for Excellence from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
He is concertmaster of the Camerata Sazburg and guest concertmaster of the London Symphony Orchestra.
In 2022 he became violin professor at the University of the Arts in Graz.
He plays a 1759 Gennaro Gagliano violin, kindly lent by a private individual, and a T. Baker bow assigned to him by J&A Beare.
