Trio Vecando
The Vecando Trio consists of the winner of the 2016 Henryk Wieniawski Violin Competition Veriko Tchumburidze, the runner-up of the 2015 Witold Lutoslawski Cello Competition and Solo Cellist of the Düsseldorfer Symphoniker Dorukhan Doruk and the winner of the 2018 Hamamatsu Piano Competition Can Çakmur.
Having already played together in Turkey and in many prestigious halls in Europe, the musicians boast over 10 years of musical collaboration and friendship before founding Trio Vecando.
Veriko Tchumburidze appears regularly with the world’s leading orchestras from the Warsaw Filharmonia to the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra at legendary venues such as Carnegie Hall and KKL Luzern. Veriko’s chamber music partners have included Quatuor Ebene, Marc-André Hamelin and Sol Gabetta. Since 2016 Veriko Tchumburidze has been playing a Giambattista Guadagnini violin, made in Milan in 1756 and generously lent by the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben.
Winner of various international competitions, Dorukhan Doruk has already appeared in major concert halls such as the Konzerthaus in Vienna, the Tonhalle in Zurich, the Victoria Hall in Geneva, the Filharmonia Hall in Warsaw and prestigious festivals such as the Verbier Festival and the Schleswig Holstein Music Festival. Dorukhan is an in-demand soloist and chamber musician, having performed with orchestras across Europe and Asia, also collaborating with artists such as Fazıl Say, İdil Biret, David Geringas. He is currently the solo cellist of the Tonhalle in Düsseldorf.
Can Çakmur is the first prize winner of the 10th Hamamatsu International Piano Competition in 2018, where he also won the Chamber Music Prize, and the Scottish International Piano Competition in 2017. In addition to his concerts which have taken him from the Foundation Louis Vuitton in Paris to Suntory Hall in Tokyo, Can is professor of piano at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London.
