Flora Fontanelli – violin
Italian-Hungarian violinist Flora Fontanelli is a freelance musician based in London. Oriented towards a mostly orchestral career, she currently works with several symphony orchestras in the United Kingdom and Italy such as the Aurora Orchestra, the Hallé Orchestra, the Orchestra Leonore and chamber orchestras such as the City of London Sinfonia, the European Union Chamber Orchestra and the Mantua Chamber Orchestra.
After obtaining a Bachelor’s degree at the G. Verdi Conservatory in Milan and a Master’s degree at the Royal College of Music in London, she was part of the Southbank Sinfonia Fellowship Scheme and the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment Scheme. In fact, interested in baroque performance practice on period instruments, Flora is also part of baroque ensembles such as Aura Musicale Budapest, Musica Antica and Endelienta Baroque.
She plays regularly in a duo with the pianist Danilo Mascetti with whom he carries out a concert activity based on “themed programmes” and collaborates with the visual artist Elisabetta Cuccaro with whom he formed the Duo Mirror: the duo explores the various ways in which the different arts interact offering different reflections on a single human experience.
Flora is also the creator and artistic director of Tolma Collective, a unique ensemble in Italy that wants to increase the appreciation of the arts and in particular of classical music, involving the public in a 360-degree performance of great impact, with an extremely varied program and in unconventional spaces.
