Alberto Grazzi has been active in Europe in the field of early music for around 25 years.
After studying bassoon in Reggio Emilia and Milan and collaborating with various orchestras such as the RAI Orchestra of Milan, RTSI in Lugano, and several Italian opera institutions, Alberto was selected in 1985 to join the European Baroque Orchestra, then in its debut season and now one of the main training institutions for professional musicians in Europe. In 1987 he became a member of Il Giardino Armonico, with which he collaborated for about ten years, and in 1990 he won the audition for principal bassoon in The English Concert, then directed by Trevor Pinnock, of which he is still a member.
In 1989, together with his brother Paolo and Alfredo Bernardini, he founded Ensemble Zefiro. After more than 20 years, Alberto, Paolo, and Alfredo continue their work together with enthusiasm, exploring Baroque masterpieces and discovering new repertoire.
Alberto has taught baroque bassoon at the Conservatorio “E.F. Dall’Abaco” in Verona and at the Civica Scuola di Musica in Milan, as well as in various summer courses and at the European Baroque Orchestra courses. Since 2011 he has taught at the Conservatorio “G. Verdi” in Milan.
Alberto Grazzi will take part in Trame Sonore 2026 as a member of Ensemble Zefiro.
