Born in Verona, Alberto Rasi completed his studies in double bass before dedicating himself to the viola da gamba and violone, studying at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis with Jordi Savall and at the Conservatoire of Geneva with Ariane Maurette.
With the Accademia Strumentale Italiana, he focuses on the performance of sixteenth- and seventeenth-century repertoire on historical instruments, with particular attention to consort music for viols. His concert career has led him to collaborate with distinguished performers and to record for major record labels, establishing himself as one of the most refined interpreters of his instrument.
Until 2020, Alberto Rasi was Professor of Viola da Gamba at the Conservatory of Verona. He founded and directed the Verona Baroque Orchestra Il Tempio Armonico, with which he recorded the complete orchestral works of his fellow citizen Evaristo Felice Dall’Abaco.
He performs on a Bass Viol by Raffaele and Antonio Gagliano (Naples, undated) and a Treble Viol by Michael Albani (Graz, 1717).
Alberto participates in Trame Sonore 2026 as a member of the Accademia Strumentale Italiana.
