Ensemble Kinari

Ensemble Kinari

Kinari, from Japanese, is a term used to describe the coloration of fabric in its most natural, original, and pure state.

The ensemble, founded in 2019, has developed years of research focused especially on those “spaces” in music that, for various reasons, remain in grey areas: its aim is to rediscover them, explore them, and give them a new color.

Since its foundation, Ensemble Kinari has performed at some of Italy’s most important festivals, including the Unione Musicale Torino, the Suoni Riflessi Festival, the Amici della Musica di Palermo, the Accademia Filarmonica Romana, and the Accademia di Musica di Pinerolo.

Since 2022, Ensemble Kinari has been part of the “Le Dimore del Quartetto” network, and since 2023 it has been a Promu Music artist, releasing a recording featuring music by W. Walton and J. Françaix.

The ensemble has distinguished itself through its exploration of the chamber repertoire of the Sicilian composer Eliodoro Sollima. In collaboration with Giovanni Sollima, cellist and son of the composer, Ensemble Kinari selected the most representative works from Sollima’s chamber output. In 2021, this research project culminated in the recording and release of this repertoire for the Dutch label Brilliant Classics.
