The Italian-Hungarian violinist Flora Fontanelli is a freelance musician based in London. Focused primarily on an orchestral career, she currently works with several symphony orchestras in the United Kingdom and Italy, including the Aurora Orchestra, the The Hallé Orchestra, the Orchestra Leonore, as well as chamber orchestras such as the City of London Sinfonia, the European Union Chamber Orchestra, and the Orchestra da Camera di Mantova.
After completing a Bachelor’s degree at the Conservatory “Giuseppe Verdi” in Milan and a Master’s degree at the Royal College of Music in London, she participated in the Southbank Sinfonia Fellowship Scheme and the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment Scheme. With a strong interest in historically informed performance practice, she also performs with baroque ensembles such as Aura Musicale Budapest, Musica Antica, and Endelienta Baroque.
She regularly performs in duo with pianist Danilo Mascetti, developing themed concert programs, and collaborates with visual artist Elisabetta Cuccaro, with whom she founded the Duo Mirror, an interdisciplinary project exploring the interaction between different art forms.
Flora is also the founder and artistic director of Tolma Collective, a unique ensemble in Italy dedicated to enhancing the appreciation of the arts—particularly classical music—through immersive, high-impact performances in unconventional spaces and with highly diverse programs.
