Lucie Leguay is a French conductor with a strong specialization in contemporary repertoire, and has worked closely with Peter Eötvös, Heinz Holliger, and Kaija Saariaho, among others, regularly collaborating with ensembles such as the Ensemble Modern and the Ensemble Intercontemporain.
She trained with Jean-Sébastien Béreau and obtained a Master’s degree in orchestral conducting from the Haute École de Musique de Lausanne, studying under Aurélien Azan Zielinski.
In the 2025/26 season, she continues to establish herself with major orchestras and opera houses worldwide, with important debuts including the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal, the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic, the BBC Philharmonic, and the Brno Philharmonic. She also returns to conduct the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, the Aix-en-Provence Festival, the Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de Liège, the Opéra Orchestre National Montpellier Occitanie, and Ensemble Modern.
This follows a highly successful 2024/25 season, during which she debuted with the Orchestre National de France and the Opéra Orchestre National Montpellier Occitanie, and returned to the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande. She appears regularly at the Concertgebouw with the Noord Nederlands Orkest and has conducted orchestras such as the Orchestre de Paris, WDR Sinfonieorchester, MDR Sinfonieorchester, Orchestre du Capitole de Toulouse, Konzerthausorchester Berlin, Dortmund Philharmoniker, Nürnberger Symphoniker, and Orchestre National de Lyon.
In 2025/26, Lucie makes her German opera debut conducting a new production of Pelléas et Mélisande at the Staatsoper Darmstadt. In the previous season, she debuted at the Opéra Comique with the world premiere of Les Sentinelles by Clara Olivares, with further performances in Bordeaux and Limoges. She also stepped in to conduct a new production of Il barbiere di Siviglia at the Opéra de Nice, following her critically acclaimed debut there in 2023/24 with a Poulenc–Stravinsky double bill (Les Mamelles de Tirésias and Le Rossignol). She has also conducted Carmen Case, with performances in France and Luxembourg.
In 2023 she received the Victoires de la Musique Classique award as “Révélation – Conductor”. In 2019 she was selected as an assistant at the Verbier Festival, working with conductors including Valery Gergiev, Lahav Shani, Gábor Takács-Nagy, Klaus Mäkelä, and Daniel Harding. She also spent three years as assistant to Mikko Franck at the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France.
