Melania Longo is an art historian specializing in museum educational services. She works in art pedagogy and cultural heritage mediation.
From 2012 to 2019, she curated the Educational Services of the MUST – Historical Museum of Lecce, where she designed the Libroteca d’Arte, an international collection of picturebooks. From 2015 to 2020, she was part of the curatorial team of Picturebook Fest – Festival of Art and Literature for Children in Lecce. She has been part of the teaching staff of the Master’s program in Educational Services for Artistic Heritage, Historical Museums, and Visual Arts at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan. She currently designs educational activities for the Fondazione Biscozzi | Rimbaud in Lecce, a contemporary art museum, and teaches creative writing and visual storytelling at the Palladio Design Institute in Verona.
For the Municipality of Mantua and Palazzo Te, she created Nati al museo, a project developed in collaboration with a group of midwives, which brings together art and health and transforms the museum into a space of well-being and culture for new families.
Together with Alessandro Sanna, she has published: Codice Rodari (Einaudi Ragazzi, 2020), Monte Latte (Terre di Mezzo, 2021), Paesaggi a caso (Lapis, 2022), and Tana (Il Castoro, 2022).
