Since its foundation in 2000, the Quartetto di Cremona has established itself as one of the most compelling chamber music ensembles on the international scene, and it is regularly invited to perform at major festivals and concert series across Europe, North and South America, and the Far East, receiving unanimous acclaim from both audiences and critics.
Among the highlights of recent seasons are concerts at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Brucknerhaus in Linz, Wigmore Hall in London, as well as performances in Stockholm, Mumbai, Beijing, Geneva, Salzburg for the Schubertiade Festival, the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center in New York, and leading Italian concert institutions and festivals. In the 2023/24 season, their acclaimed debut at Carnegie Hall (October 2023) was followed by a re-invitation from the CMS at Lincoln Center (March 2024).
In the 2024/25 season, the ensemble will begin celebrations for its 25th anniversary with concerts at prestigious Italian festivals and concert societies (including Genoa, Bologna, Turin, Milan, Rome, and L’Aquila) as well as internationally (including Prague, Toronto, Taipei, Madrid, and Denver). A new recording will also be released: Bach’s Art of Fugue, performed with seven instruments so as not to alter the original writing of the score (Orchid Classics).
The Quartetto di Cremona regularly collaborates with artists such as Eckart Runge, Till Fellner, Pablo Barragán, Kit Armstrong, Miguel da Silva, David Orlowsky, Kyril Zlotnikov, and the Emerson String Quartet and Pavel Haas Quartet.
Previous recordings include Italian Postcards (2020, Avie Records), a double CD dedicated to Schubert (2019, Audite), and the complete Beethoven string quartets (2018, Audite). All recordings have received strong international critical acclaim and several important awards.
The Quartetto di Cremona is regularly invited to give masterclasses in Europe, America, and Asia, and since the academic year 2011/2012 has held the Chair of the Advanced String Quartet Course at the Accademia Walter Stauffer in Cremona. In 2015 it was awarded honorary citizenship of the city of Cremona, and in 2019 it received the Franco Buitoni Award from the Borletti-Buitoni Trust for its continuous contribution to the promotion and dissemination of chamber music in Italy and worldwide. It is an ambassador for the international project “Friends of Stradivari,” Thomastik-Infeld Strings, and “Le Dimore del Quartetto.”
