Born in Kazakhstan in 1998, the musical path of Ruslan Talas has been shaped by European, Russian, and Kazakh violin traditions, which continue to inform his multifaceted and passionate approach to the instrument.
He began his studies at the Kazakh National Academy of Music in Astana (2005–2010), later continuing at the Central Music School and subsequently at the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory (2010–2021). He then pursued further studies at the HEMU Conservatory in Switzerland (2021–2024), and is currently studying at the Kronberg Academy in Germany in the class of Janine Jansen.
Ruslan has been a finalist and prizewinner in numerous international violin competitions, including the Queen Elisabeth Competition (2024), the Stuttgart International Violin Competition (2024), the Montreal International Musical Competition (2023), the Rodolfo Lipizer International Violin Competition (2022), the Vietnam International Violin and Chamber Music Competition (2019), the Postacchini International Competition (2018), and the 8th International Tchaikovsky Youth Competition (2014).
He has performed in major concert halls such as the Berlin Philharmonie, Wiener Konzerthaus, Bozar in Brussels, Salle Cortot in Paris, Liederhalle Beethovensaal, Zaryadye State Concert Hall, Radio Hall in Romania, and the Romanian Athenaeum in Bucharest.
Alongside his solo career, he is an active chamber musician and has collaborated with artists such as Denis Kozhukhin, Antje Weithaas, Jens Peter Maintz, Daniel Blendulf, Timothy Ridout, Boris Brovtsyn, and Gareth Lubbe. He has performed with ensembles including the Belcea Quartet, the Cremona Quartet, and the Leonkoro Quartet. Ruslan is currently an Artist-in-Residence at the Nicola Bulgari Foundation.
