Sofiko Tchumburidze, a violinist born in Turkey in 2000 into a musical family, began studying the violin at the age of six at the State Conservatory of Mersin University under the guidance of her mother. She continued her training at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich with the support of ÇEV Sanat, studying with distinguished teachers such as Lena Neudauer, Julia Fischer (from 2019), and Mary Utiger (baroque violin).
She has attended masterclasses with prominent international violinists and musicians, including Pierre Amoyal and Dimitri Sitkovetsky, and is a scholarship holder of the Liechtenstein Music Academy.
Her awards include First Prize and the “Young Artist Award” at the Ana Chumachenco Competition (Germany, 2017), and First Prize at the National Chamber Music Competition in Turkey (2018).
She has performed as a soloist with various orchestras, including the Presidential Symphony Orchestra and the Çukurova State Symphony Orchestra, and has appeared at international festivals such as the Youth Classics Festival and the Semmering International Summer Festival. In 2022 she performed with Julia Fischer in Grünwald and collaborated with the Divan Orchestra under the direction of Daniel Barenboim, appearing in major European cities.
Alongside her solo career, she is very active in chamber music, performing at festivals such as the Schloss Elmau Chamber Music Festival and collaborating with institutions including the Munich Hochschule; some of her performances have been broadcast by Bayerischer Rundfunk.
Among her recent projects is a 2021 recording for Alpha Classics with the Mozarteum Orchestra conducted by Howard Griffiths.
