Considered one of the most compelling ensembles in Italy, the Quartetto Indaco is today one of the most vibrant forces in chamber music. Their strength lies in an almost symbiotic understanding, essential for navigating the intricate textures of the program, which revolves around the theme of masking and revelation.
The concert opens with a rare gem: Giuseppe Verdi’s String Quartet in E minor, the composer’s only foray into chamber music. Written during rehearsals for Aida, the work conceals a theatrical spirit beneath its classical form, rich in dialogue reminiscent of grand operatic arias.
Completing the program is Isle of Voices by Cosimo Carovani, the ensemble’s cellist: a contemporary work that explores new sonic landscapes and acts as a modern counterpoint to Verdi’s writing. Immersed in the evocative atmosphere of the museum space, the listener becomes part of a dialogue between instruments moving between Carovani’s modern textures and Verdi’s theatrical lyricism.
The result is a compelling sonic narrative charged with energy.
