Piazza Leon Battista Alberti

Piazza Leon Battista Alberti

Piazza Leon Battista Alberti is located in the historic centre of Mantua and is one of the city’s most evocative urban spaces.

The square is named after the renowned Renaissance architect and theorist Leon Battista Alberti, who designed the nearby Basilica of Sant’Andrea, one of the main monuments overlooking the area.

It is an intimate and harmonious space, dominated by the monumental rear façade of the basilica and surrounded by historic buildings that help define its Renaissance character. It serves both as a thoroughfare and a place to linger, and is much frequented for its strong architectural identity and for the historical and cultural significance it holds within the urban fabric of Mantua.
