Can Çakmur won First Prize at the Hamamatsu International Piano Competition in 2018 and at the Scottish International Piano Competition.

He has performed in concert halls around the world, including Wigmore Hall in London, Glasgow City Halls, Muziekgebouw Eindhoven, Tokyo Opera City, Suntory Hall, and the Fondation Louis Vuitton, as well as in the most prestigious concert halls of his native country, Turkey. He has appeared at major classical music festivals in Turkey, including the Istanbul Music Festival, where he opened the 2015 season with the Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Sascha Goetzel.

Recent highlights include the Japanese premiere of Thomas Adès’ In Seven Days at Suntory Hall with the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra conducted by Masato Suzuki, the closing concert of the MUZA Kawasaki Festival with the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra conducted by Tadaaki Otaka, and a recital at the Fondation Louis Vuitton.

His regular chamber music partners include Veriko Tchumburidze and Dorukhan Doruk (with whom he formed the Vecando Trio in 2021), cellist Alexandre Castro-Balbi, and double bassist Dominik Wagner.

In 2022, at the age of 24, he was appointed Professor of Piano at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire for Music and Dance, becoming one of the youngest professors ever appointed at the institution.

Can will participate in Trame Sonore 2026 as a member of the Trio Vecando.
