Francesca Torri

Flute

After graduating in flute, she furthered her studies with Giampaolo Pretto and Mario Ancillotti, the latter at the Fiesole School of Music. Following a strong personal interest, she devoted herself to early music, studying in particular with Marcello Gatti, Barthold Kuijken, and Marc Hantaï. She then specialized in the transverse flute, which led her to perform with ensembles and orchestras such as Europa Galante, Accademia Bizantina, and Il Pomo d’Oro, in Italy and abroad, with which she has recorded for labels including Deutsche Harmonia Mundi, Decca, Glossa, and Deutsche Grammophon.

She has participated in the Chopin Festival (Warsaw), the George Enescu Festival (Bucharest), and AMUZ (Antwerp).

She is a member of the “musical laboratory” Spira mirabilis, also performing on period instruments, with which she promotes a different approach to the study and performance of orchestral repertoire—one that encourages an interpretation of the score that is deeply felt, internalized, and shared by each individual musician.
