Cello

Giovanni Maccarini, born in Pavia in 2004, began studying the cello at the age of five using the Suzuki method, later graduating under Maestro Marcello Rosa. He obtained his first-level degree with honours and special mention from the “Franco Vittadini” Conservatory in Pavia, studying with Maestro Cecilia Radic.

He has performed in numerous orchestral and chamber music contexts, collaborating with conductors such as Moretto, Prandi, Fasolis, Tamayo, Urbanski, and others, and taking part in the activities of the Accademia Concertante d’Archi di Milano and the IMF Orchestra Academy. Since 2025 he has been an academist with the Orchestra da Camera di Mantova, with which he also regularly collaborates on projects involving internationally renowned artists.

As a soloist, he has performed major works from the cello repertoire, including concertos by Boccherini, Haydn, and Saint-Saëns, receiving awards in national and international competitions, including First Prize at the International String Competition Milan (2026). He has also developed significant chamber music experience, collaborating with internationally acclaimed musicians and attending masterclasses with leading performers.

Despite his young age, he has already performed in prestigious venues in Italy and abroad, including the Teatro Fraschini in Pavia, the Sala Verdi of the Milan Conservatory, the LAC in Lugano, and UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, distinguishing himself for versatility and interpretative maturity.

Giovanni will take part in Trame Sonore 2026 as a member of the Mantua Chamber Orchestra.
