In the enchanting atmosphere of Piazza Santa Barbara, beneath Mantua’s night sky, one of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s absolute masterpieces comes to life. Composed in the summer of 1779, Sinfonia concertante in E-flat major for Violin and Viola, K. 364 transforms sorrow into music of rare intensity and depth. Reflecting one of the most troubled periods in Mozart’s life, the work mirrors the emotions surrounding the loss of his mother and a series of bitter professional disappointments.

The writing interweaves the dialectic of the solo concerto with the symphonic richness of the orchestra: violin and viola pursue one another, respond to one another, and engage in a continuous and passionate dialogue, merging into a sonic embrace of extraordinary tenderness. A work that turns away from the lightness of the galant style to embrace a serious and contemplative vein. Music that speaks of encounter, of mutual listening, of that rare harmony in which two distinct voices find a single voice — one that, more than two centuries later, continues to resonate in a deeply intimate and emotional dimension.

The protagonists of this unmissable event are violinist Sergey Malov and violist Jennifer Stumm, both long-time guests of Trame Sonore, appearing for the first time as soloists with the Orchestra da Camera di Mantova, conducted for the occasion by its Konzertmeister Carlo Fabiano.
