The Swiss Piano Trio is a highly prestigious Swiss ensemble, founded in 1998 and today recognized as one of the most distinguished chamber music groups on the international scene. The trio is praised for its sonic balance, technical perfection, and expressive intensity, to the extent that the American magazine Fanfare described it as “one of the best piano trio ensembles on the current scene.”
The trio has won major awards, including First Prize at the International Chamber Music Competition in Caltanissetta (Italy, 2003) and at the International Johannes Brahms Competition (Austria, 2005), as well as the Swiss Ambassador’s Award at Wigmore Hall in London.
With a concert activity that has taken them to over 40 countries and to some of the world’s most prestigious venues—from the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam to the Tonhalle in Zurich, from Victoria Hall in Geneva to the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing—the trio also performs as soloists with orchestras such as the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and the Russian National Orchestra.
Their discography includes recordings of Mozart, Mendelssohn, Schumann, and Tchaikovsky, as well as works by Swiss composers such as Paul Juon, Frank Martin, and Daniel Schnyder, including complete editions of Beethoven’s piano trios released by the label audite.
The ensemble is also actively engaged in promoting contemporary music, commissioning new works from Swiss composers and including them in their concert programs.
