The vast spaces of the Fruttiere of Palazzo Te, one of the new venues of Trame Sonore 2026, are filled with the warm, deep sound of the Mozarteum cellos, led by Giovanni Gnocchi, in a program dedicated to modern and highly evocative repertoire.
The concert opens with El cant dels ocells (The Song of the Birds), the Catalan Christmas carol made famous by Pablo Casals in his arrangement for cello: a melody of extraordinary delicacy, now a universal symbol of peace and freedom, capable of transforming nature itself into a song of joy for the birth of Christ.
After this moment of reflection, the program opens into contemporary exploration with two world premieres: Seven Memories for cello by Simone Fontanelli (1961) and Mascherate e ghiribizzi by Gabrio Taglietti (1955).
