The program today moves along the subtle ridge that separates tradition and avant-garde. In the historic setting of Palazzo d’Arco, a distinguished venue within the Casa Mozart strand, the Ineo Quartet—a young ensemble of remarkable sensitivity—leads the listener on an exploratory journey through Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s String Quartet No. 19 in C major, K. 465, an absolute pinnacle of his chamber output.

The famous nickname “Dissonance” derives from the unsettling introduction of the Adagio: twenty-two bars of harmonic suspension and daring chromaticism that, for the time, represented a genuine leap toward modernity. Mozart challenges the conventions of his era through asymmetrical entries, harmonic tensions, and unpredictable trajectories, disorienting his contemporaries. Once this threshold of instability is crossed, the score opens into the brightness of C major, unfolding into a tightly woven and balanced dialogue among the instruments. Far from any formal exercise, Mozart shapes the sonic material by enhancing the individuality of each performer, in a continuous interplay between cohesion and freedom.

The Ineo Quartet brings out this architecture of contrasts with precision and expressive momentum, restoring all the innovative force of Mozart’s masterpiece. A performance that reveals how, already in the heart of the eighteenth century, music was capable of looking toward the future with striking clarity.
