Violin

Luca Braga studied violin at the Conservatorio di Milano, graduating in 1985. He refined his skills with renowned maestros including F. Cusano, Z. Gilels, A. Brussilowski, and M. Jokanovoch, consistently receiving scholarships and merit diplomas. For chamber music, he further specialized with M. Sirbu in the sonata repertoire and with F. Rossi in string quartet performance. He has received numerous awards and recognitions in chamber music competitions, and in 1994 he won the national competitive examination for teaching positions in Italian conservatories for violin and chamber music.

He has been a guest artist of prestigious concert institutions worldwide and has collaborated as concertmaster or principal player with major Italian orchestras, including I Pomeriggi Musicali, the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, and the Orchestra Toscanini Emilia-Romagna. He also works with some of Italy’s most prominent ensembles. He is first violin of the Orchestra da Camera di Mantova and of the Quartetto Mantova, with whom he maintains an intense concert schedule. Since 2002 he has been invited by Enrico Dindo to perform with I Solisti di Pavia as soloist, concertmaster, or principal player.

He has deepened his knowledge of Baroque and Classical performance practice with teachers such as R. Goebel, M. Hugget, and A. Moccia, and has collaborated with prestigious ensembles including Il Giardino Armonico, Kammerorchester Basel, and I Barocchisti.

His wide musical curiosity has also led him to explore other stylistic worlds, collaborating with artists such as Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, D. Brand, and Elio e le Storie Tese.

He previously taught at the conservatories of Sassari, Cagliari, Trento, and Vicenza, and is currently Professor of Chamber Music at the Conservatorio di Milano.

Luca will take part in Trame Sonore 2026 as a member of the Orchestra da Camera di Mantova.
